Grading guide
We grade every record by hand using the Goldmine standard, the same scale most UK and US dealers use. It's the same guide we use at WholeLottaVinyl, so you know exactly how your records will be judged.
Mint (M)
Sealed, untouched, perfect. We rarely see pre-loved records this high.
Near Mint (NM / M-)
An opened but unplayed copy. Looks and plays as new, with no audible defects.
Excellent (EX)
Played a little, but looks and plays nearly perfect. Maybe the odd faint mark; no audible defects.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Light surface marks that don't affect play. Minor sleeve wear at corners or spine.
Very Good (VG)
Plays well with light surface noise in quiet passages. Visible marks; an honest used copy.
Good Plus (G+)
Playable but worn. Surface noise throughout; sleeve may be split or taped. This is the lowest grade we accept.
Below G+ (G, Fair, Poor)
Please don't send these. Sadly they're not worth the postage. If one does arrive, we'll post it back to you.
What gets the full instant offer?
Instant offers assume VG+ or better, because our offers are based on VG+ prices.
Records graded VG or G+ may get a reduced offer or be sent back. It's your choice: we'll explain the grade and why, and you decide whether to accept the reduced price or have the record posted back to you at our cost.
Records marked "priced in person on arrival" are graded and valued by hand when they arrive.
Before you post
Handle records by the edges and label, keep them in their inner sleeves, and pack them upright and tightly so they can't warp or crack in transit.
